Interest-Based Mediation

The practice of mediation continues to grow across Canada and is becoming a highly professional and specialized field. Mediation is now used on a regular basis to resolve conflicts related to the workplace, divorce, custody, property and insurance claims, civil matters, environmental and land use issues, and this list goes on. This interactive, experiential 3-day course focuses on the 6 step process of interest-based mediation and builds on the communication, active listening and problem-solving skills taught in the prerequisite course (see below). Participants will learn how to assess, screen and prepare cases for mediation and will be introduced to techniques for dealing with strong emotions and resistance. This course is a required component of the certificate program.
